Nonsurgical

Scaling 

Scaling or professional cleaning is the way of removing plaque and tartar deposits using an ultrasonic scaler. The ultrasonic scaler has a tip that vibrates and dislodges the deposition from the tooth surface. It is an entirely painless and hassle-free process. Professional professional cleaning of prophylaxis is recommended every 3-4 months. 

Deep cleaning

Deep cleaning involves cleaning the root surface of teeth while scaling only involves cleaning the visible portion of the tooth. It also involves careful removal of infected root surface lining to promote gum health.

Surgical

Gingivectomy

Sometimes, there is an increase in the gum tissue that covers the visible portion of the tooth. There can be various reasons for such an increase. However, this extra gum tissue hampers the placement of dental crowns and bridges. Removal of such extra portions is recommended for prosthesis placement. Gingivectomy is a minor surgical procedure done under local anesthesia to remove this additional portion of gum tissue. Gingivectomy can be done with a surgical blade or dental lasers. 

Gingivoplasty

Gingivoplasty is a procedure done when only reshaping the gums is required. There is not so much extra tissue we need to remove by gingivectomy. Gingivoplasty is the gum recontouring that reshapes the gum tissues to enable successful prosthesis placement. It is done mainly in the aesthetic zone of the front teeth region. 

Flap surgeries

Sometimes, there is gum recession, which leads to exposure to the tooth surface. Roots are mainly exposed, leading to problems like root sensitivity. Flap surgery is a procedure done to cover the denuded root portion. A flap is a thin section of tissue harvested from a donor site to be placed on the denuded root surface. This leads to the coverage of the root portion, preventing complications like sensitivity and caries.

Sometimes, the teeth have minor mobility, which does not require extraction. Teeth splinting is a procedure that saves the mobile tooth. We take support from the adjacent teeth to stabilize the mobile tooth with a unique fiber material or thin metal wire.
